City to sea rail trail
The ‘City 2 Sea’ Rail Trail has been in the planning stage for a number of years. As a trustee of the Bainesse Trust I am proud to announce we are almost underway. The first stage is developing the Old Stock Route which runs parallel to the rail corridor which will give people safe access from the end of the city shared pathway to the Longburn Hall. Clearing of the stock route has involved many hours of labour to prepare a construction ready site. Once completed we will then move onto stage one from the Longburn Hall along SH 56 to the intersection of Rangiotu Road and from there onto Himatangi Beach. This is a huge project but one which will bring huge benefits to Palmerston North city and beyond. Click on the video link above to see the latest on the stock route development.

I am proud to be a trustee of the Bainesse Trust who have been working very hard for a number of years to get the City To Sea Rail Trail underway. The first stage is converting the Old Stock Route at Longburn which runs parallel to the rail corridor as a safe passage from the end of the city shared pathway to the Longburn Hall. From the Longburn Hall stage one is to form the track along State Highway 56 out to the intersection of Rangiotu Road and onwards from Rangioutu to Himatangi Beach. We are always looking for more volunteers to assist. The shared rail trail pathway will be open to walkers, runners, cyclists and horses. It will be a fantastic asset for the Manawatu.
