Manawatu District Council proposes zero rates rise for coming year

The Manawatu District Council is proposing a ‘zero’ rates increase for this coming year to reflect the potential hardship to ratepayers due to the effect of Covid 19. A final decision will be made at this Thursday’s full council meeting. Even with a zero increase the Council will still receive a 1.5% increase to it’s income from last year due to rates income from new dwellings. The Himatangi Beach community I’m sure will appreciate this prudent decision. The next 12 months will be difficult for many households and as a Himatangi Beach property owner I applaud their pragmatic approach.
